OUR STORY
Mental wellness that meets you where you are
We built RiseWell because the gap between “I need support” and “I can access support” is still too wide. Therapy waitlists are months long. Apps that promise mental health support too often feel cold, clinical, or designed to maximize screen time rather than wellbeing.
OUR MISSION
“To make the daily practice of emotional wellbeing as natural and accessible as checking the weather.”
What we believe
Safety first, always
The 988 crisis line is on every screen. No feature, paywall, or loading spinner ever stands between a user and getting help. That rule is non-negotiable.
Growth, not engagement
We don't optimize for time-in-app. We optimize for the day you don't need us as much. Real wellness means needing a mental health app less, not more.
Your data is yours
Mood check-ins, journal entries, voice recordings — they belong to you. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and we make it easy to delete everything.
Inclusive by design
Customizable pronouns. Illustrated avatars. A community that protects LGBTQIA+ members. Wellbeing support looks different for everyone and we try to reflect that.
Warm, not clinical
We chose language carefully. You'll never be "assessed" or "screened". You'll be asked how you're doing — like a friend would ask.
Evidence-informed
Our coping tools are grounded in CBT, DBT, and mindfulness research. AI reflections cite what they're based on. We won't invent wellness science.
Crisis support is always free
No subscription required. The crisis tools, 988 hotline, and grounding exercises are available to every user, always — regardless of plan or login status.

Is RiseWell a replacement for therapy?
No. RiseWell is a self-care tool, not a clinical service. It can complement therapy, but it does not replace it. If you are struggling, please reach out to a licensed mental health professional.
Who built RiseWell?
RiseWell was built by a small team of engineers and mental health advocates who have personal experience with the gaps in accessible, affordable mental wellness support.
What does "safe-messaging guidelines" mean?
We follow established guidelines for discussing topics like self-harm and suicide — the same standards used by reputable mental health organizations. This means we focus on help-seeking rather than methods.
Is the AI actually helpful?
The AI features (mood insights, avatar conversations) are designed to be reflective and supportive — like a wellness journal that talks back. They are powered by GPT-4o with careful safety rules and are not a substitute for human connection or clinical care.
